Wisconsin Man Claims $29.1 Million Powerball Jackpot!
Sunday, September 23, 2007 posted 01:35 AM EDT
As an over-the-road truck driver for almost 25 years Steve Peot of Green Bay never imagined he would amass more money than
miles. So count him as one very surprised Powerball jackpot winner.
“This really is unbelievable,” Peot said. Peot, 45, presented the Wisconsin Lottery with the only winning ticket from
the September 5th $29.1 million Powerball drawing. He purchased his winner at the Superstore in De Pere. “I don't play
that often,” he said. “Sometimes when the jackpots are really up there.”
So what prompted him to go for a $5 quick pick ticket for last Wednesday's comparatively small $29.1 million? “I don't
know,” he admitted. “It was just on a whim.” Peot chose the jackpot's cash option lump sum payment of $13.7 million.
Peot says he's not sure what he's going to do with the money. “Just keep on keepin' on, I guess.” Peot is married with
two teenage children and another child on the way. He says he intends to continue living in Green Bay.
