Oklahoma Lottery Transfers $17.4 Million For Education
Tuesday, October 17, 2006 posted 12:02 PM EDT
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma Lottery officials say they're transferred another $17.4-million to the Oklahoma Education Lottery
Trust fund.
The transfer represents the first quarterly transfer of the fiscal year that began July 1. It raises the total amount of
revenue transferred to more than $86.4-million since the lottery began one year ago.
Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, says the latest transfer reinforces that Oklahoma education
is the real winner with the Oklahoma Lottery.
A total of 45 percent of lottery revenue goes to common education, including teacher pay and benefits. Another 45 percent
goes to scholarships and loans to help Oklahoma residents attend state colleges and universities.
