Fishhook woman warns others of lottery scam

A woman from Fishhook, Illinois woman wants to warn others about a check scam.
Last week, Norita Knowles got a letter and check saying that she had won a large amount of money from a Swiss lottery.
The letter included a check that appeared legitimate from Wells Fargo.
But Knowles did some investigating with her bank and with Wells Fargo, and found out that the check was a fake.
Here are some KHQA Safe Family Crime tips to help protect you from scam artists.
Don't cash any unsolicited checks that come through the mail.
Contact law enforcement right away.
And senior citizens should have a family member look at the letter or contact their bank for help.
