N.C. Lottery Launching Two New Games In October
Thursday, August 17, 2006 posted 11:30 AM EDT
North Carolina will soon offer two new lottery games, which means more competition for Virginia Lottery retailers along the
state line.
Carolina Pick 3 will debut on October sixth, while Carolina Cash 5 is to start on October 27th. Drawings will be held nightly.
The top prize for picking the exact three numbers between 0-0-0 and 9-9-9 in Carolina Pick 3 is 500 dollars. The top prize
for Carolina Cash 5 will start at 50-thousand dollars and grow until someone wins it.
In Carolina Cash 5, players select five numbers between 1-and-39. North Carolina's lottery law requires that the net revenues
go to school construction, class-size reduction, pre-kindergarten and college scholarships.
North Carolina began selling scratch-off tickets in March, and Powerball sales started in late May. The director of the Virginia
Lottery said last week that some retail stores near the Virginia border have seen their ticket sales drop since North Carolina
launched its lottery in March.
