Lottery commission approves two new games, pay raises

RALEIGH, N.C. North Carolina's lottery commission approved two new in-state numbers games today.
Lottery Chief Tom Shaheen says demand for the new games is high, and that both games should be available to players this
fall.
In early October, the lottery commission voted to bring out a new five-digit game called Carolina Cash Five.
A month later, a three-digit game called Carolina Pick Three was approved.
Both games will have a daily drawing with better odds than the popular multistate Powerball game, which can boast a nine-digit
jackpot.
Shaheen says the smaller five-digit game would have a maximum payout of 720-thousand dollars, but would be more popular because
winning odds are better.
The three-digit game has a 500-dollar prize.
Both games are nearly identical to those played in South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.
