Lottery sales hit the jackpot

There has been a 5.2 per cent rise in the sale of lottery tickets to over £5 billion, according to operator Camelot.
The increase follows a 3.3 per cent rise in the year to March 31 last year. The previous year to March 2004 saw a 1 per cent
increase in Lottery sales - its first upturn in six years.
During the 12 months to March 31, £5,012.8 million was spent across all games - the Lottery's third consecutive year of
rising sales.
The year-on-year rise of £246.7 million was partly due to the creation of new games and the record 11-week EuroMillions
jackpot rollover.
The figures are Camelot's last before the entry deadline for bids for the next licence to run the National Lottery.
A World Cup game, a scratchcard offering exotic holidays and Dream Number, a draw-based game in support of London's 2012
Olympics which will replace Lotto Extra, will be launched this year.
