Williston store sells $1 million Powerball winner

WILLISTON, N.D. - Someone bought a Powerball ticket at a convenience store here that is worth $1 million, the biggest lottery
prize in state history.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem confirmed the prize Thursday. The ticket was sold for the Powerball drawing Wednesday night.
The game has drawings Wednesday and Saturday.
The person matched the first five of the six Powerball numbers, and bought the game's Power Play option, which multiplied
what normally would have been a $200,000 prize to $1 million.
A Williston Kum & Go convenience store sold the ticket. Donna Schroeder, the store's general manager, said when an employee
told her of the sale Wednesday night, she did not believe it. The store gets a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
"I haven't heard a word and I don't think they'll come forward right away, and maybe he doesn't know or she doesn't know
they even have the ticket yet," Schroeder said Thursday.
Under North Dakota law, the prize winner's name may be disclosed only if he or she consents in writing.
