$800,000 mystery Lotto win
Thursday, March 02, 2006 posted 11:14 AM EST
Some lucky Lightning Ridge resident is more than $800,000 richer and doesn't even know it yet.
A player, registered to Weeks' Newsagency, has picked up a share in Saturday night's
$3 million Lotto draw, but because NSW Lotteries does not have their phone number they have had to be informed by mail.
Even as you read this the letter is on its way to the post office box of the lucky winner, where it waits for them to collect
their mail and discover the news.
There were three other winners nationally, two in Victoria and one in Queensland, and the total prize going to the Ridgeite
is $832,747.94.
Owner Sally Weeks was delighted with the news, especially as this is the second first division Saturday Lotto prize sold
at the newsagency after a syndicate won $1.4 million two years ago.
"We're on a bit of a roll at the moment, so I hope we can have a few more wins," Mrs Weeks said.
"I also hope it's somebody who needs the money and will spend some of it here in town."
Mrs Weeks said there were a number of regular Lotto players in Lightning Ridge.
"We have a number of very dedicated players, which makes sense because in an opal mining town you've got to have a bit of
faith in Lady Luck."
